Special Delivery!!!

And by special I mean VERY special...say a baby. Yes that is what I almost did on Friday cruising at 24,000 feet in the air, deliver a baby. We had a 15 year old girl on board, looking very pregnant, although she told me she wasn't due for another 2 months. Just after we finished service I hear the call button. The social worker she was traveling with says that she is having contractions. Well I'm thinking this girl isn't due for another 2 months so it must just be Braxton Hicks right? Wrong. After I called the pilots to let them know the story I went back to check on her and she says her water broke and the contractions are getting closer. By closer I don't mean every 5 minutes or so, I mean every minute and a half lasting for 45 seconds. And what does our little gal say to me. 'I'm going to push. I can feel it I have to push...NOW!' Oh yes all of this at cruise altitude and at least 15 minutes away from being on the ground. Now I'm no expert and I don't have any kids of my own but I am pretty sure that once your water breaks you are pretty well on your way. Luckily we got on the ground and medics got her off the plane before I had to whip out the gloves.
